Florida Field Trips

Florida’s reputation as the “Sunshine State” and its numerous theme parks make it a fun vacation spot for students throughout the year, but that doesn’t mean that students can’t also learn while having fun! With a variety of scholastic locations throughout the state, Florida Field Trips can teach school field trips and visiting student travel groups a lot about Florida’s history and wildlife, as well as showcase STEM, social studies, and other curriculum (that are traditionally learned in the classroom) in the beautiful Florida sunshine!

For science-themed Florida Field Trips, students and teachers can plan a visit to Cape Canaveral’s Kennedy Space Center. Students of every grade level will love learning about space exploration and the science behind sending rockets into space. Tours through KSC will take students on a journey to see the Kennedy Space Center launch pads, the Vehicle Assembly Building, and the NASA Causeway to see rocket launch sites at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The Apollo/Saturn V Center features exhibits that will show students some of NASA’s historic rockets and the new shuttles and technology being developed as NASA looks ever forward into the future. Educational programs and activities for field trip groups include building mini-rockets, learning about conditions on Mars, discovering the physics behind crater creation, and learning about the Earth’s orbit, among many other STEM topics.

Florida Field Trips can also focus on the Sunshine State’s diverse history. The city of St. Augustine was explored by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513 and has plenty of historic sites and attractions that will give students an unforgettable tour of the oldest city in the United States. Class field trips will learn all about St. Augustine’s swashbuckling history at the St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum, where they will get to see the world’s largest collection of pirate artifacts and learn about the history of pirates in Colonial America and their adventures off the coast of Florida. A short walk away is Castillo de San Marcos, the stone fortress built by the Spanish in the late 17th century that has been preserved and reconstructed for students to explore today! At the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum, students can take a spooky ghost tour, and class field trips can’t leave without stopping by the famous and beautiful Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park!

For nature enthusiasts, Florida Educational Trips can easily be adapted to focus on nature and wildlife throughout the state. To learn about one of Florida’s signature sea creatures, the manatee, students can take a trip to the lovely Crystal River Wildlife Refuge. In nearby Homosassa Springs, students will even get to swim with these big and harmless sea mammals!

Whether it is spent exploring the state’s natural habitat and wildlife population, applying science and mathematics at museums and the Kennedy Space Center, or learning of its diverse history at any museum or historic site throughout the state, Florida Educational Trips are well worth the adventure! Where in the Sunshine State would you like to begin your enlightening journey? The possibilities are endless!
